Young Modern

Young Modern's energetic sound and melodies were a precursor to the bands that would begin having a major impact on the charts at the end of the 1970s; with a recognised influence on artists like the Hoodoo Gurus and the Sunnyboys.

Young Modern formed in 1977 by John Dowler, he was friends with Stephen Cummings of The Sports who produced the bands first record 'She's Got the Money'. The song received significant airplay on 3RRR Melbourne, and 2JJ Sydney at the time.

Unfortunately for a number of reasons Young Modern didn't achieve the success many thought they would, and broke up in late 1979 with John Dowler going on to form Zimmerman. Young Modern briefly reunited in 2006 to record a new album.
