In Brisbane in 1977, before Died Pretty, Screaming Tribesmen, Hitmen, New Christs - there was The 31st. 

 

The word out on the streets was you had to see this band - they were raw, passionate, they were pop, rock, light, dark – all in one! 

 

Ron Peno, Mick Medew, Chris Welsh and Tony Robertson were The 31st. The band really was a supergroup of musicians who would go on to create, in various other bands, an enormous legacy of Australian alternative rock music.
